Safe Arrivals Attendance System

Reporting Your Student's Absence
Posted on 11/25/2019
The OCDSB board is implementing a new system that will allow parents to directly input their student's absences, by one of three methods:
  • An app on your mobile phone
  • A link to an internet website
  • A 1-800 toll free phone number

This system allows you to quickly and easily report an absence in advance. It enhances student safety, verifies absences in a timely manner, and improves notification time with parents and guardians. Office staff will no longer have to retrieve voicemail and email messages (which at times amount to a few hundred in a day) in order to verify the reason for a student's absence.

To add an extra layer of security to the system, parents are encouraged to add a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to their account, to ensure that they are the only people who can report their child's absence.

Detailed information has been emailed to all LDHSS parents, and can be found at this link for the Safe Arrivals system.

Postcards have been given to all students, with easy to follow instructions for reporting an absence. These postcards have been translated into Arabic (future translations are anticipated), and are available in the main office (both in English, and in Arabic).

Longfields is one of the first schools in the board to implement this system. All schools will be using it by the end of the year. Once this has happened, parents with students at multiple OCDSB schools will be able to report all of their children's absences at the same time.
