Class of 2022 Commencement Ceremony
Wednesday June 29th, 2022 9:30am and 1:00pm
Grad Breakfast - Grads are welcome to join their classmates and teachers in a breakfast in their honour. Friday, June 24th starting at 8am in the Cafeteria
OCV Students - Students who are registered with OCVSS and will be joining in the LDHSS Commencement Ceremony:
Please join us at the Grad Breakfast. At this event, you will be able to pick up your pre-purchased grad gown (if applicable) as well as your invitation and tickets to the Commencement Ceremony.
Grad Gowns - Pre-purchased gowns are available for pick up in the Library during lunch on Thursday, June 23rd
***For students who did not purchase a gown, there are a limited number of gowns available. These items are available for purchase on Friday, June 24th starting at 8am. Please come to the main office with $30 CASH ONLY. When the available gowns are sold out, students may purchase a cap only for $10.
Commencement Invitation and Guest Tickets
Invitations and Guest tickets are available for pick up in the office during lunch time and when a student has a spare period. Guest tickets are restricted to 2 per graduate. For students who identified a request for additional tickets during the initial Grad Form Submission timeline, a limited number of tickets have been made available and will be distributed during the pick up of the invitation. No additional requests are being entertained at this time.
The following memo is designed to provide information to all potential grads and their families on all things related to graduating from Longfields-Davidson Heights in June 2022.

1. Application for Scholarships and Awards
|
Potential Grads have had the opportunity to submit their name for consideration for Scholarships and Awards. The deadline has passed and our Awards Committee is in the midst of reviewing the applications and selecting winners. Thank you to all those who applied. The awards committee is considering students for specific awards even if they did not complete the form.

2. Volunteer Hours (Students must complete at least 20 volunteer hours to graduate this June)

Volunteer Hours must be submitted by Friday, June 3.

3. Certificates – Business, French Immersion, French Extended, Technology, SHSM, International Certificate

Potential Grads were asked to confirm certificates that they have earned by Friday, May 20. Please note that OCV students will have their certificates mailed to their individual home addresses by OCV admin.

4. Grad Photos
|
Students had the opportunity to have grad photos taken between November and January, and February through mid-April.

5. Graduation Gowns
|
Graduation gowns have been available for pre-order for the last few weeks. The deadline to order a graduation gown has been extended until Friday, May 27. Please use the following link to purchase a grad gown.

6. MotorBoards and Tassels
|
If you choose not to order a gown, a mortarboard and a tassel are available for purchase on the day of commencement for $10 (cash only). If you ordered a gown these are included.

7. Valedictorian
|
Potential Grads can self-nominate to be the valedictorian for the class of 2022. Students can complete and submit the following form by Tuesday, May 31st. An election will be held on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3 to elect the valedictorian.

8. Grad Slide for Commencement Ceremony
|
Grads will have a slide appear as they cross the stage during Commencement.
OCV students are asked to submit a picture of themselves that will appear on the slide. Please use the following form to submit your picture. Students are asked to submit their picture by Wednesday, June 8.

9. Prom
|
Prom is being held at Orchard View Wedding and Conference Centre on Monday, July 4. Any prom related questions should be directed to Mrs. Shanley ([email protected]) The prom has offically sold out.

10. In Person Commencement
|
Wednesday, June 29 – Two ceremonies will be held at 9:30 a.m. and at 1:00 p.m. The two ceremonies are designed to make the program more efficient, and to reduce any possible exposure to COVID through a larger than necessary crowd. Grads will be allowed two guests to come to the ceremony, and guests tickets will be distributed later in June.
The Ceremony times have been finalized, grads will receive invitations and tickets soon.

11. Honour Roll, Ontario Scholar, Silver Medalists
|
Promotion meetings (reviewing all potential grads to ensure they have met graduation criteria) will take place on Monday, June 27. In person students and families will have a small window to review, Honour Roll, and Silver Medal lists from Monday, June 27 (noon) to Tuesday June 28 (noon) to ensure that there are no omissions.

12. Diplomas
|
OSSD diplomas have been ordered from the Ministry and it is our expectation that grads will be able to pick up their diplomas and other important paperwork at the end of June.
OCV students will be able to receive their diplomas on Wednesday, June 29. Certificates, Honour Roll certificates, Silver Medal certificates, transcripts, and subject awards will be mailed directly to the student's home address.

13. Grad Bouquets
|
The Commencement Group will be onsite this year as an option for parents to purchase fresh flower bouquets for graduates. To further contribute to a safe and efficient environment for your graduates, guests, and faculty, they are strongly encouraging customers to take advantage of our online pre-order service. They will have a contact-free customer experience for guests who are simply picking up their pre-purchased and reserved product. This will also increase overall physical distancing measures. Guests can of course purchase directly from our on-site staff as well, however pre-ordering does ensure specific sizing, colours etc..
