Grade 10-12 Cohorts, 2020

Grade 10, 11, 12 Cohorts
Posted on 09/09/2020
On Friday, Sept. 4 we were unsure of whether we would be able to identify Cohorts A and B for students in grades 10 to 12 electronically.  We now have a system that allows us to do this.  As a result we will not be handing out timetables to grade 10-12 students on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., as previously suggested.  Instead period 1 teachers of grade 10 -12 students will email students whether they are in Cohort A or Cohort B using the students' OCDSB email accounts (i.e. [email protected]). These emails will be sent out by the end of the day on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Students in Cohort A will start classes on Thursday, Sept. 10 (doors to the school will be open at 8:30 a.m. and students will be directed by staff to their period 1  class.)  Students in Cohort B will attend their first class on Friday, Sept. 11.  Students will receive their timetables once they arrive at their first period class.  Please do not arrive before 8:30 a.m. as the school will not be open before that.

Students are asked to bring the following to class: binder with paper, pen, pencils etc., a water bottle , snacks, a device (chrome book or laptop for your own personal use) – devices will be provided for students for in class use,  and a face mask (that must be worn at all times while they are in the school).

If you son or daughter cannot access their school email account you can use the following guidelines to help determine if they are in Cohort A or Cohort B for period 1.  Students with surnames A-H are in Cohort A, and students with surnames I-Z are in Cohort B.  There are some exceptions to this rule, as the surnames in certain classes don’t lend themselves to an even split of students between the two cohorts.  Staff will call on Wednesday Sept. 9th to confirm if your son or daughter does not follow the A-H, I-Z pattern.

Grade 9 students in Cohort A should attend on Thursday Sept. 10 as well.  Grade 9 students in Cohort B should attend on Friday, Sept. 11.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday and Friday morning.
